Physics

Physics is a major branch of natural science which deals with studying Matter, its motion and behaviour through time and space, its fundamental constituents and the related entities of force and energy. Physics is one of the oldest academic scientific disciplines. This branch often intersects with interdisciplinary areas of research such as quantum chemistry and biophysics. Advancements in physics have enabled progress in various technologies like solid-state physics, electromagnetism and nuclear physics. This leads to the production of lots of new products such as computers, television, domestic appliances, and nuclear weapons.  Now, physics itself is a very wide subject with a lot of further branches.

  • Kinematics: It deals with the motion of bodies, points and system of bodies. Without focusing on the force that is responsible for moving them. It includes velocity-time graphs, stopping distance, planetary motion, vectors e.t.c
  • Optical physics: It deals with the fundamental study of light and its interaction with matter. It includes reflection, refraction, interference and diffraction and it also deals with quantum mechanical properties of photons, individual pockets of light.
  • Fluid Mechanics: This branch includes studying the mechanics of fluids (gases, liquids and plasmas) and the forces that act on them. It finds many applications in chemical and mechanical engineering, astrophysics and biological systems.
  • Force and motion: It deals with the forces that cause the motion, balanced and unbalanced, inertia, mass and momentum, and linear motion.
  • Rotational motion: It consists of relationships between angular velocity, angle of rotation, angular acceleration, and time.
  • Thermodynamics: This deals with the study of relations between work, temperature, heat, energy and entropy. It also consists of physical properties radiation and matter.
  • Electricity and Electrical Energy: Electricity is a type of energy produced by electrical energy. It consists of energy charges and circuits.
  • Magnetism: and magnetic forces: It is caused by the motion in electrical charges and includes magnetic field and forces.
  • Electromagnetism: This field involves studying electromagnetic forces and electromagnets which find their applications in different electrical devices such as motors, induction, generators, MRI machines e.t.c
  • Newton’s laws of motion: There are three classical laws of motion given by Newton that are used to represent the relationship between the motion of the object and forces acting on it.
  • Gravity: It is a natural phenomenon by which all matter with mass or energy including all the planets, galaxies, even light and stars are attracted to one another. It includes gravitational force which weakens as the objects move farther away.
  • Waves and Oscillation: It consists of studying waves that are caused by oscillation and oscillations that are parallel to waves. Sound is a subcategory of this topic. Which deals with studying mechanical disturbance produced by vibrations and waves of energy.
  • Atoms and Nuclei: It consists study of atoms and what’s inside them such as protons, electrons and neutrons.
  • Electronic devices: It deals with the study of electronic materials, devices and electrical circuits and also deals with semiconductors.
  • Quantum mechanics: It is considered a complex branch of physics and deals with study of behavior of light and matter on subatomic and atomic level.
