Must have web pages

A landing page is a page on which you land on a website from the search engine. It does not bring you to the homepage but the targeted or specified pages with content matching the search query.
A website consisting of many web pages but no matter what is the niche of the website, it is advisable to have most of these web pages:

  • Site Map: It is a page that displays all the information about pages, videos, images and other files on the website and the relationship between them. It can be posted anywhere on the website and affects only the descendants of the parent directory. It is the website content map. Also a good guide for the site engine.
  • About us page: This may not seem to be of a lot of significance but this page can be a deal breaker for some readers. The About Us page consists of basic information about the company or the organization like who they are,  what they stand for, what their purpose is. This page can have an “our story” section or can link to a separate “our story” page where customers/readers can get more authentic information and feel invested in your website.
    • Team page: It shows your employees who work as a team into making your website a success. This helps the clients and customers in knowing the kind of people they are working with.
      • Affiliate disclosure page: It’s a law in many countries to have this page in your website if you use information from another site that results in your commission. This not only covers the affiliate links but also sponsorships, endorsements to maintain customer transparency and brand transparency.
    • Contact page: This page is also crucial for your website as it serves as a medium for the customers/ readers to interact with the company. Keep this page simple so that customers can find the contact information easily.
    • Career/Jobs page: This page provides opportunities for readers or visitors searching for employment. This way they did not have to look for jobs at your company through various job-seeking websites.
  • Terms and Conditions: This page is considered the most boring page of the website which consists of the rules of the website. It can also be an agreement between your reader and the website when they sign up with you or make an account with the website. There is no legal requirement for having this page but it is much advisable by the attorney as it protects your rights to the content to your website.
    • Privacy policy: While the website visitors may rarely visit this page but it is recommended by lawyers, just in case. This page consists of your privacy policy statement which. provide information about the way one’s website gathers, discloses, uses, and manages the customer’s data.
    • Cookie policy page: This page includes detailed information about the cookies that your site uses, how users can control cookie placement and how they are used. Cookies are used to enhance one’s website or to provide custom advertising to your visitors.
  • Home page: It is one of the most important web pages as it defines your website. Your homepage will decide if the person exploring it is going to go further with their research or is going to move to the next website. So it is highly recommended to customise one’s homepage and include all the relevant sections here only.
  • Blog page: This is a page where one can go all-in with the customizations. The purpose of this page is to spark up conversations with the readers. The more interactions with readers, the more traffic it brings to the website and thus helps in SEO( Search Engine Optimisation)
    • Bibliography page: It is a page that provides the list of sources that you have used to gather information or for research purposes. This helps in reducing plagiarism.
  • Product and services page: For e-commerce websites, product pages are really important as they provide the descriptions and specifications of all products and services offered by the organisation.
    • Portfolio or Gallery: Pictures are the best way to engage your audience who doesn’t appreciate a few nice clicks about their area of interest. So invest in a portfolio or gallery page which consist of pictures of all your products, services, and client interactions.
    • Testimonials/Review Page: Although your websites contain all the information about your products, this page allows your audience to hear about your business from others and what others think of you. These opinions from previous customers or third parties carry brownie points for the website.
  • Search Page: This page serves as a great way for the readers to find the information of their interest in the website and have a good user experience. Having a search page rescues the burden on the main menu as one can find the desired information with little friction.
    • FAQ page: If you find that your business gets the same questions from a lot of the customers, you can have a separate FAQ page that answers all the generic questions and doesn’t make the customer questions your product every once in a while.
  • Error Page:  This page becomes necessary when encountering any problem with the website or a user searching for any invalid information on the website. A default 404 error page is boring and word-heavy and may drive the readers away so try to customize this page for your website in a much simpler way.
  • Warning Page: to warn hackers against potential harm if they try to intervene in the functioning of the website. These pages or sometimes a warning message displaying on the screen alerts them that the website content is explicit and cannot be accessed by them.
