Dance is a performing art form consisting sequence of movements. The movement is either purposefully selected or improvised, along with it they are aesthetic and are often of symbolic value. Dance is categorised on the basis of its place of origin, its history and its hope of choreography. Dance has generally two contexts: theatrical and participatory and both these categories have special functions in terms of social, religious, erotic, competitive basis.
- The performance or theatrical dance involves a bunch of dancers on the stage who depicts a story for entertainment purpose using mime, costume or scenery. Some examples are Ballet, Classical Indian dance such as Bharatnatyam, Chinese dance such as Dragon dance e.t.c
- Participatory dance has moe social purpose and is performed in a line, chain, circle, square or with partners. It can include folk dances, group dance, social dance or even a solo dance performed for self-satisfaction
With the development of technology, choreographers are also pushing their creative boundaries to make room for exceptional dance style and have included many new dance classes too.
